Happy Fall Y’all!
Ahh – There’s something so fantastic about Fall, am I right? Especially in New York and ESPECIALLY in Brooklyn. It’s the land of orange leaves, pumpkin lattes, farmers markets, and bouquets of freshly sharpened pencils. It’s Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks falling in love in You’ve Got Mail…and if you didn’t get that reference, Netflix it IMMEDIATELY.
Last weekend, I walked over to my Farmer’s Market and picked up some goodies. Got to chatting with the Farmer manning the Stall and we swapped recipes. PS, if you ever don’t know what to do with a veggie or fruit at the Farmers Market, ask the farmer. They are brilliant. I figured I’d share what I made with you below, along with some pictures of my adventure that day.
I bought all this bread. Like all of it.
I grabbed some Butternut Squash at the Market and some Thyme. I happened to have some local Chèvre i my fridge and an Onion. Thinly (very very thinly, with a micoplane if you have it) sliced the peeled squash, onion and cooked them down with some butter and thyme. Piled it all high on some dough and topped with the cheese. Simple, wonderful and very fall. Pop in You’ve Got Mail and add a Green Salad. You’re set for a fantastic night my friends.
I used the Galette dough recipe from Smitten Kitchen, which can be found here.
No recipe here today, because this really is a”whatever is in season / whatever you have around” recipe of sorts. Master the dough and you’re in for a treat. As always friends, enjoy! Love, M.
